Secret Santa- with a Twist!

What is it?

Its secret Santa with a twist! The concept is simple, instead of buying a colleague a secret Santa gift, we buy a gift for a child in care instead. My colleagues and I were talking about secret Santa in the office and how it was such a waste of money. We had colleagues in Lithuania some of them volunteered their time after work at a care home over there. We decided that instead of losing the spirit of secret Santa, we would do it differently.

Being part of Illuminet this year has allowed a wider reach of people to speak with about this initiative and now we have more care homes from Ireland and England involved, that means more children will be getting a gift this year! By yourself, it would be difficult to manage the volume of children who need our support but being part of a corporate environment allows more people to get involved and when many people are joined in a common goal like this, magic happens and we can really make a difference to those children in need of a little ray of sunshine!  

Why am I doing this?

Most of these children have had really hard histories and just like every other child, they deserve a little treat. It’s through circumstances that are beyond their control that they live in care, and if we can help, then it is my belief that we should help.
