As part of our 10th Anniversary in 2019, we announced Illuminet’s Treevolution Initiative, including our litter pick-up events, convincing our office providers to switch to renewable energy and our partnership with Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust (YDMT) and National Forest Foundation giving out wildflower seed packets and planting 1 tree per consultant per week, 5 trees per permanent position filled and 10 trees per product delivery.
We have currently funded the planting of 12,380 trees! We aspire to be a business that gives back to the environment through the services and products we offer.

A team effort!
A small group of the Illuminet team recently had the opportunity to join Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust on an exciting adventure to get their hands dirty and plant some broadleaf trees. With the storms having gone, they were extremely lucky to be greeted by the sun, allowing them to plant an impressive 150 trees that day! A big thanks to the YDMT team who educated Joss, Harry, Darren and Luke, on how to plant the trees and the process of their growth within the different woodlands.

To mark Illuminet surpassing the 6000 tree goal, CEO Greg Wood spoke about the achievement!

Why do we do it?
Planting trees is one of the most important things you can do for the environment. Restoring native woodlands will help to;

Create new habitats for wildlife and support biodiversity
Create natural spaces where people can relax and enjoy themselves
Protect the landscape against flooding and erosion and improve water quality
Restore part of our natural landscape that’s been lost due to deforestation
What is our plan for Carbon Net Zero?
Our baseline emissions were measured, and recorded, by Positive Planet in accordance with GHG Protocols for scopes 1,2 & 3. The inventory includes all measurable Scope 1 & 2 emissions and the relevant Scope 3 emissions. You can view our Carbon Net Zero Plan by clicking here!

Volunteering for a cleaner environment
We are rather fond of gardening and litter picking to freshen up our local communities. Our litter picking also helps support our tree planting as we plant 1 tree per bag of litter we collect.
